Retired Major Thomas Erwin Powell

Retired Major Thomas Erwin Powell, 72 was called home to our Lord and Savior on May 25, 2016.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 28th at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home on Ramsey Street for a 10:00 am visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, lead by Chaplin Michael "Mike" Shellman.

Mr. Powell had a distinguished military career including 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the rescue team at Son Tay, North Vietnam, and his actions on this raid earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. He was inducted into both the Special Forces Regiment and The Commando Hall of Honor. After 22 years of actively serving his country, Mr. Powell began his Civil Service career.

He is survived by his father, Erwin Thompson Powell of Lawerenceville, GA; his loving wife, Nancy B; daughters, Mary Powell Purdy and Elizabeth Lewis; and 2 grandchildren.
