I worked with Hugh very closely for several years and wish to offer my deepest sympathy to his family. Hugh taught me so much and was extra generous with his time, patience and knowledge. He truly was a good-hearted, gentle spirit and I will miss him very much.

I got to know Hugh when he started working in the same building as I did. But only this year did we discover that we actually started working at NASA on the same day 31 years ago! For the last several years, Hugh was the lead technician in the Supersonic Low Disturbance Tunnel. This facility and the research conducted in it is highly complex and unique in the world. I depended on Hugh's judgement with respect to the technical aspects of operating that facility and he never let me down. Over the years that I knew him, Hugh became my friend. I knew him to be a kind and caring man who went out of his way to help other people. He was one of a kind and I will miss him. My condolences to his family and especially to Charity. Hugh spoke of you often and loved you very much.

Thank you, Hugh, for all the help you have given me in trying to become an astronomer, for sharing your vast knowledge and expertise. Your kindness and generosity know no bounds. You are greatly missed by all of us left behind. My empathy goes out to all your family in their sorrow. Let us remember that this life is fleeting, and that the separation will be only for a short time. Loved ones will be together again. Blessings of comfort and peace I send to your family and many, many friends.

I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know "Uncle Hugh" through my best friend(and his niece) Charity. I will miss the trips to go see him. He always welcomed me when I tagged along. I really wish I could have had a few more visits because he was an amazing and brilliant person. To his family(my second family), I am praying that you may find peace during this difficult time. I love you all. - Kels

Hugh was an upstanding man and a good friend. I enjoyed many long hours under the stars, working on the Observatory and eating lunches at Mr C's. I wish the Family well and I offer my sympathy and help. May he rest in peace
