On October 20, 2015, Ramon Craig passed away at the age of 75, and he will be greatly missed.  Butch was a retired Marine Corps GYSGT who served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a communications specialist/linguist and a proud member of Force Recon. He was our hero and was acknowledged as such with three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with "V."

A graduate of both the University of San Diego and the University Of Alabama, Butch was a strong believer in higher education and helped countless students reach their goals as the former president of Lafayette College in Fayetteville, NC and as a co-owner of Miller-Motte Business College in Wilmington, NC. He was also a proponent of veterans' rights and worked for many years with the National Association of Concerned Veterans (NACV), in addition to membership in the Marine Corps Force Recon Association, Special Operations Association, Disabled American Veterans and a lifetime member of the VFW.

But above all else, family was Butch's greatest achievement. He was loved by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia. Their loving relationship taught us respect and caring. Butch was blessed with four daughters who adored him. He left us with no regrets. "I've had a wonderful life," he said.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents F. Ione "Skip" Collins and Raymond Albert Craig, along with brother, Rodney "Bud" Craig, and granddaughter, Piper Olivia Boyle.

Butch is survived by his wife, Sylvia Craig; daughters Kerri Person (Glenn), Kelly Cresswell (Dave), Kim Burns (Michael) and Kristi Boyle (Thomas); sister, Judy Richardson and brother Richard Craig (Sharon). Butch is also survived by many loving grandchildren: Madison Pere, Hallie Pere, Abby Burns, Ethan Burns, Craig Wilder Person, Fisher Brown, Tucker Boyle, Julie Aument, Glenn Person III, Allison Cresswell, Gavin Cresswell and Ryan Cresswell, a great granddaughter, Natalie Aument, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, October 25, from 5:00-7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 26 at noon, Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd., Ft. Bragg, NC. The family would like to welcome friends to the Craig home directly after the Monday service.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Force Recon Association Scholarship Foundation in memory of Ramon "Butch" Craig. Force Recon Association, P.O. Box 111000 Carrolton, TX 75011.
