Sylvia Joyce (McNeill) Edge

Mrs.Sylvia Joyce McNeill Edge, 80, of Fayetteville went to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Born January 21, 1936 to Wilson and Margaret McNeill, she lived most of her life in Cumberland County in the Gray's Creek community. In 1952, Joyce married E.J. Edge, Jr., and they were happily married for 58 years. In 2011, she lost her beloved husband, E.J. Edge, Jr. She is also preceded in her death by her parents, a brother, Paul McNeill and a sister, Lynda Atkinson.

Joyce is survived by a son, Phil Edge (Nancy) of Fayetteville; daughters, Connie Baker (Mitch) of Wrightsville Beach, Patricia Grossman (Michael) of Fayetteville, Beth McFayden (Mitch) of Fayetteville and Kathy Sanders of Fayetteville; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special aunt, Carolyn McNeill that has always stood by her side during her lifetime.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a retired cosmetologist. She was known as a wonderful cook and used that talent to cater weddings and other events. Cooking for her family and friends brought her much happiness. She was also very proud of her husband, E.J. when he served as a County Commissioner for many years.

 A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Butler Nursey Rd. with Revs. Scott McCosh and Michael Grossman officiating. A private family burial will be in McNeill Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
