Mary Coit Tillinghast

Miss. Mary Coit Tillinghast, 94 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017.

Miss Tillinghast was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norwood W. Tillinghast.  She was a life long resident of Fayetteville and a retired federal employee having worked at Womack Army Hospital on Fort Bragg for approximately 30 years.

Miss Tillinghast was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Haymount Book club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Norwood W. Tillinghast, Jr.

Her survivors include a sister, Helen T. McNeill of Wilmington; two nieces, Margaret McNeill Holler and husband, Carl M. of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Robbie McNeill Johnson and husband, Philip of Wilmington; three nephews, Samuel W. Tillinghast of Houston, Texas, James MacPherson Tillinghast and wife, Nancy of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Robert McGill Tillinghast and wife, Jill of Richardson, Texas;  four great nephews and three great nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday, March 24, 2017 in St. John's Episcopal Church with Rev. Robert Alves officiating.  A private burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2 pm in the Kyle House at St. John's Episcopal Church.
