Herby Louis Fryer

Retired Chief Warrant Officer 2 Herby Louis Fryer, 64, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015.

Herby was born December 24, 1950 in Troy, AL to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Fryer.  As a young man, Herby joined the Army and served 21 years earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2.  During his years of service, he was awarded multiple medals, including the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the National Service Medal to name a few. 

He married the love of his life, Susie on August 24, 1968 and throughout their 46 years of marriage they were blessed with two boys and four grandchildren.  Herby was a caring family man who enjoyed volunteering and reading.  But above all else, he loved his wife with all his heart and lived for her. 

Herby is survived by his wife, Susie Fryer; two sons, Jason Fryer and his fiancé, Nadia Figueira of Fayetteville, and Daniel Fryer and his wife Patrice of Fayetteville; one brother, one sister; five grandchildren,  Lauren Brooke Fryer, Emily Kate Fryer, Sarah Louise Fryer, Daniel Jackson Fryer, and Augusto Figueira.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm, Thursday, February 26, 2015 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lionel Cartwright officiating. Interment to follow with full military honors at Sandhills State Veteran's Cemetery in Spring Lake. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home.
