Yueh Chun Yang Wang

Yueh Chun Yang Wang, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023, at her home. Yeah Chun was born in Shuili township, Nantou County, Taiwan on February 1, 1949 to the late, Shi Shun Yang and Hsueh Mei Yang Chung.

Yeah Chun was preceded in death by her brother, Shin hee Yang.  She is survived by her husband, Hsien Yun; children, Yu Hang and Jim; one brother and three sisters; grandchildren, Jonah, Noah, Micah, and Lanah; numerous nieces and nephews including, Yuju Yu and Te Chun Yang; and many other relatives and friends.

Yueh Chun had been a pillar of Fayetteville since the family’s arrival in the 1980s. She was the face and owner of the most beloved Chinese restaurant in town, Hunan Gardens, with her husband, Hsien Yun, for over 30 years before the restaurant was sold in 2014. She delivered the most energetic laugh, contagious smile, and overwhelming kindness as she welcomed the local patrons and made their culinary experience the most memorable. Through her jovial attitude and actions, she built an extensive list of patrons and lifelong friends from dentists to retired veterans. This existed well beyond the town limits as soldiers and airmen, stationed at Ft. Bragg and then Pope Air Force Base, shuffled and dined in and out of the restaurant and brought the stories of her vibrancy and taste of the amazing food to Korea, Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other distant lands. She did this all while raising two sons who each became successful in their own careers of entrepreneurship and the U.S. military. Towards the end of her life, she traveled extensively to East Asia, Europe, and the island of Hawaii enjoying her well earned retirement. Yueh Chun was always the brightest when visiting her grandchildren in Leland, NC; feeling the warm July weather; and smelling the flowers she received on Mother’s Day. She will always be remembered as the most compassionate, benevolent, and gracious mother and resident in the town of Fayetteville. Yueh Chun will be sorely missed by her family and friends.       

A Memorial Service will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, 500 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home.
