William Douglass Obituary

William C. “Bill” Douglass passed away on January 24th, 2023, at the age of 87. Bill was born on July 26, 1935, in Wake Forest, NC.
Bill spent his childhood at Randolph-Macon Academy, a military style school in Front Royal, VA.  He joined the NC National Guard in 1954, where he excelled and achieved the rank of CSM. He loved the Guard and would never have retired if he didn’t have to after 41 years.
While in the Guard, Bill also had full time employment as an office equipment sales consultant at Williams Office Equipment Co. for 40 years. Furnishing the Cumberland County Courthouse was something he was proud of. In his younger days, Bill loved to go king fishing at Long Beach, NC, now Oak Island with his wife, Lucille, and four boys.
Bill spent his later years in the rental business. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucy (Goode Jackson) and Clarence E. Douglass. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lucille; sons, Jeff (Cindy), Jerry (Carol), Joey (Kimberly), and Mike (Christie); grandchildren, Steven, Michelle, Benjamin, Claire (George), Joey Alexander, Samantha, and Bella; and great grandchildren, Adalyn and Ava.
