Obituary
Walter Glenn Douglas Bass, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully in his home on May 27, 2023. Walter was born and raised in Sampson County. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mildred; children, Doug (Rebecca), Alexa (Britt), Pam (Denis), Michelle (Gilbert), and Lisa (Tony); 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sister, Wilda Barker.
Walter graduated from Roseboro High School. He was the pianist for The Goldtones band and later for his family’s southern gospel group, The Bass Family Gospel Singers. He worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, was employed by Wards, Rogers and Breece, and Reeves funeral homes, and the Fayetteville Mortuary Service. Walter was the founding owner of Bass Memorials for approximately 30 years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the Rivers of Living Water Church of God on Bingham Dr in Fayetteville, NC from 1:45 to 2:45 PM. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Dr. Johnny Rivera officiating. Burial will follow the service at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Clinton, NC.
