Virginia Weese "Polly" Chason Obituary

Virginia Weese “Polly” Chason of Rockfish passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, September 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Marie Weese, and her brothers, Jim, Varland, and Harold Weese, as well as her son in law Michael Zamora.

Polly is survived by her husband, Larry Chason of the home; her cherished fur baby, “Spot”; her sister, Lois Lisko of Maryland; her daughters, Lisa Enloe (Scott) of Fayetteville and Stefanie Zamora of Eastover; her bonus daughter, Stephanie Hurley (Dan) of Grays Creek; nine grandchildren, Lindsey Wilson (Josh), Zachary Johnson, Peyton Zamora, Paisley Zamora, Nathan Zamora, Ashlyn Enloe, Summer Page, Kennedy Wilson, and Steele Enloe; one great-grandson, Dalton Wilson; and one soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter, Remington Lynn Wilson. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Polly was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law. A devoted Duke Blue Devils fan, despite living with a Carolina fan, she was also a proud member of Massey Hill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on many committees. She was a woman of strong faith, a fighter, and someone who always sought to “make the best better.” No matter the circumstances, Polly loved her family unconditionally, almost as much as she loved Elvis Presley and her church choir at Massey Hill Baptist Church.

Polly had a heartfelt love for southern gospel music. Among her favorites was the Port City Quartet, and she especially cherished the voice of Dale Forbes singing Come On In. She would be deeply appreciative of all who will lift their voices in song during her service.

Professionally, she retired as Director of Human Resources at Highsmith-Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, and later served as HR Director at Cape Fear Valley–Hoke County. She held numerous positions with the State of North Carolina in human resources and was deeply respected by hospital administrations and colleagues alike. Ginny believed in treating employees fairly and cared deeply about their well-being.

Polly carried West Virginia in her heart and often said she cried with joy every time she traveled through the tunnel returning home. She enjoyed shopping for bargains for her family, crafting, and decorating her Rockfish home. Whenever you stepped into the home you could see her everywhere. Though quiet by nature, when Polly spoke, people listened. She also enjoyed working on the computer, designing graphics and flyers for her husband’s music ministry, and supporting church events.

Known as “Ms. Polly” at the hospital, she was affectionately called “Sweet Ginny” by her church family. She carried herself with grace and professionalism in all she did. A proud graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College in 1991 with a degree in Business Administration, Ginny set an example of perseverance and dedication.

Throughout her 17-month illness, she never complained. Instead, she used her journey to encourage and witness to others, reminding them of the importance of having their “house in order” because she had her own in order.

Ginny will always be remembered as a woman of love, faith, forgiveness, and encouragement. Her famous words, “Hold your head high, God has got it,” will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

“Well done, thy good and faithful servant. May your memory live on.”
