Velda Osborne Lane

Velda Osborne Lane, 95, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Lane.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, with Brother Larry Chason officiating.

Mrs. Lane is lovingly remembered by her son, Carl Randy Lane of Fayetteville, NC; and her four daughters: Saundra Smith (Tom) of Florida, Sue D’Alpe (John) of South Carolina, Kathy Horne (Nick) of Fayetteville, NC, and Angie Thompson (Ronnie) of Fayetteville, NC.

She is also survived by three sisters: Linda Jones, France Richardson, and Mabel McManus; ten grandchildren: Mychelle Stens, Danielle Marcano, Larry Hart, Gabrielle Perez, Tracy Cannon, Amber Rylee, Nicole Bryant, Melissa Fincher, Ronnie Thompson Jr., and Lindsey Spencer; along with 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lane was a deeply loving mother, grandmother, and nana, whose warmth extended far beyond her immediate family. She found great joy in being a surrogate nana to many, offering her kindness and care to all who needed it. Her love for her friends and neighbors was boundless, and that love was returned wholeheartedly.

A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Lane lived her life guided by grace, compassion, and a deep trust in God. Her faith was the foundation of her strength and the source of the love she so freely gave to others.

A passionate gardener, Mrs. Lane found peace and purpose among her flowers. She never hesitated to get her hands in the dirt, nurturing each plant with the same devotion she showed to those around her. Her garden, like her life, was full of beauty, love, and care.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:45 pm, a memorial service will follow at 2 pm. Burial to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
