Thomas Alvin “Tommy” Tatum, 73, passed away on March 13th, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Letha Tatum; his brothers, the Rev. Bill Tatum, the Rev. James Tatum, and Mitch Tatum; his sister Nancy Brewer.
Tommy is survived by his wife Joyce Odom of the home; his daughter, Rebecca Reyes (Cristin) of Richmond, VA; his sons Timmy Blackwell (Melissa) of Grays Creek, NC, Chris Blackwell (Renee) of Grays Creek, NC; his grandsons Ian, Patrick, Zach, Chase, and Clay; his granddaughter Paige; his great grandson on the way, Reed; his brother Bobby Tatum (Linda) of Rockfish, NC; his sisters Mary Jackson (Bud) of Grays Creek, NC, Linda Pape of Wilmington, NC, and Anne Britt, of Wilmington, NC.
Tommy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He loved gospel music and was well known in the community as Bass Player for the Carolina Tradition gospel group. He also held membership in the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship in America (All-American Chapter) and was former Hollerin' Champ (1989) in Spivey's Corner, NC.
After serving his country in the United States Army, Tommy worked for Kelly-Springfield Tire Company until his retirement. He was a dedicated Christian man who also acted as Senior Pastor of the White Oak Family Worship Center in White Oak, NC. His family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched will remember him with love. Tommy will be deeply missed.
