Thomas Wayne McDonald, Sr., age 72, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at his home. He was born January 21, 1952, in Fayetteville, the son of Elizabeth Coleman McDonald and Thomas Jefferson McDonald.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia Hamilton McDonald; daughter, Wendi D. McDonald; son, Thomas Wayne McDonald, Jr. and partner, Candace Pope of Coats, NC; grandson/son, Trevor Wayne McDonald; granddaughter, Hailey Morgan McDonald and grandson, Tyler Wayne McDonald. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Coleman McDonald and wife, Debra McDonald; sister, Connie McDonald Hawley and husband, Ken Hawley of Godwin, NC; brother-in-law, Ernest Hamilton and wife, Margaret Hamilton of Pittsboro, NC; sister-in-law, Gail Hamilton of Virginia as well as several nieces and nephews that loved their beloved Uncle Wayne.

Wayne loved being outdoors and God‘s wonderful world of nature. He loved birdwatching, working in the garden and enjoyed nothing better than having a fishing pole in his hand and being on the water while spending time with his family. Everyone knew that Wayne loved his family dearly, and his two dogs that were his buddies.

In the span of his life, Wayne touched the hearts of all those who knew him, he was a father figure to many. He was a man with few words, with overflowing wisdom and love. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts. An Angel in heaven to watch over and protect us forever, free spirits have to soar.
