Shirley Mae Montes (Gist) of Eastover passed away in her home surrounded by her children on November 28, 2021, at the age of 84. She is survived by 7 children, Sherrie Friedman of Lakewood, California, Tina Johnson of Eastover, North Carolina, Ricco Montes of Mayville, Wisconsin, Eric Montes of Mason, Ohio, Shelly Morton of Johns Creek, Georgia, Jason Montes of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jonathan Montes of Gainesville, Florida. She is further survived by brother, Ronnie Gist, sister, Bonnie Gardner, sister-in-law, Pearl Gist; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Shirley was a loving wife and mother of 7 children and devoted her life to caring for her family. With her kind personality, gentle demeanor, witty sense of humor and Southern style charm, she knew no strangers.

A visitation will be held at 3:00 pm - 4:45 pm at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Friday, December 3, 2021, with a Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 pm. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Ivan G. Montes, in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
