Shirley J. Barber, 89, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
She was born in Chatham County to the late Frank Jeffries and Edna Jeffries.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Henry L. Barber- Henry and Shirley met in school and were inseparable from that point on.
She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Badders and Ruth Garner, and her brothers, Don, and Wayne Jeffries.
Shirley is survived by her son, Mitchell Barber; daughter, Kathy White; grandchildren, Jamie Inman (Johnathan), Ryan Barber (Brittney), and Taylor Jergensen (Dominique); and great grandchildren, Raylen, Wyatt, Lilly, and Saydee.
Shirley was better known as “mema” to her family and friends. She loved sewing, planting flowers, and watching Jimmy Swaggart on tv. She found joy in her family, and sitting on her porch watching the hummingbirds and red birds.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 4 to 6 pm. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in the Rogers and Breece Chapel at 2 pm. Burial will follow the service at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.
