Ruth Clare (Sussingham) Hatley

Ruth Clare Hatley, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Born in the Bronx, NY, Ruth was a longtime resident of Fayetteville, NC. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Sussingham of Long Island; her beloved husband of 72 years, William; and her four sons, Tom, Bill, Steve, and Chris. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

As a devoted military wife, Ruth spent over 40 years creating professional birthday and wedding cakes, bringing joy to countless special occasions. She was a loving mother, an inspirational friend, and a kind, gentle soul to all who knew her. Ruth will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 PM, with Brother Larry Chason officiating.
