Ronald “Ronnie” Edward Proctor, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Ronnie was born on July 16, 1958, in Mooresville, North Carolina, to the late Albert Proctor and Sarah Meadows Proctor.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Proctor.
Ronnie is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Mary Proctor; his sons, Ronnie Proctor Jr. and Zachary Proctor; his daughter, Whitney Sanders; his sister, Donna Barnette; and his cherished grandchildren, Braxton and Oaklynn. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Ronnie dedicated his professional life to the electric industry, working with Duke Energy and later Spectra/Enbridge. His career spanned various construction-based roles that eventually led him into the early development of web services and information technology. He played a key role in the deployment of large-scale computer systems, some of which are still in use today. As technology evolved, so did Ronnie’s career, leading him into online learning development where he created and delivered computer-based training programs for the workforce. While he took pride in his work and enjoyed technology and education, his greatest passion was always his family.
Outside of work, Ronnie and Mary were active members of the American Poolplayers Association, where Ronnie competed at the national championship level. In retirement, the couple embraced their love of travel, especially cruising. They often took voyages, sometimes monthly, drawn to the warmth, sea air, and sense of adventure. Their favorite ship, the Carnival Elation, carried them through the Bahamas many times. In honor of Ronnie’s love for the sea, Mary and the family plan to return him to the ocean on a final voyage this July, on his birthday.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, at Ronnie and Mary’s personal residence. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life well lived.
