Roma Jewel Askea, 100, peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2025. She was reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, her beloved husband, Raymond Askea.
Born to Bessie Rice Cain and Alpine Cain, Roma lived a century full of grace, faith, and unwavering love for her family. A dedicated servant of the Lord, she was an active member of her church, where she joyfully served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and played the piano. Roma’s warmth, honesty, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Vicky Roy; her grandchildren, Laura Torres and husband Nathan, Miranda Moffitt and husband Johnny, Christianna Martin and husband Brenden, and Emilia Roy and partner Nate Ludwig. Roma also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, J.J. Moffitt and Lilly Moffitt, all of whom brought her endless joy.
Roma is also survived by her loving sisters, Betty Blackmon, Jolene Hopper, and Betty Guy, and her dear sister-in-law, Mary Cain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Askea; her parents, Bessie and Alpine Cain; her son-in-law, Michael Roy; her brothers, Verl Cain and Clayton Cain; and her sister, Catherine Smith.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 4:00 to 5:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Lafayette Memorial Park West at 11 a.m.
