Robert “Dan” Daniel McLamb

Robert “Dan” Daniel McLamb, 74, of Linden passed away on May 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dan was born on April 15, 1950, to Rebecca Barnes McLamb and James Martin McLamb, Sr. in Lumberton, NC. After Dan graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1969, he went on to work as a mechanic for Mac’s Garage.  After Mac’s Garage, he went on to become a self-employed mechanic at various locations. 

In January 1971, Dan married Pamela Burris. Dan and Pam went on to have 1 child, Danielle McMullen.

In August 1985, Dan married Sylvia Matteo.  Dan and Sylvia went on to have 1 child, Paige Ward.  Dan also had 2 stepchildren through this marriage, Eric Walling, and Kevin Beam.

Though the marriages did not work out, they remained close friends. 

Dan worked as a mechanic up until his death.  Dan enjoyed fishing, fast cars, and any Western movie or TV show.  Dan was an avid fisherman and loved being outside, especially tinkering in his garage.  During his years as a mechanic, he befriended dozens of regular customers and often performed personal favors at the drop of a hat for many who loved and appreciated him dearly.  On any given day, Dan could be found fixing a car, a boat, a lawn mower, or anything with a motor.  Dan’s children were precious to him, and he will be greatly missed by those that loved him the most. 

Dan was predeceased by his father, James Martin McLamb, Sr; mother, Rebecca Barnes McLamb; and sister, Nancy McLamb McLaney. 

He is survived by his 2 daughters and their families; Danielle McMullen and her husband, Scott of Greenville, NC; Paige Ward and her husband, James of Lake Mary, FL; 1 grandchild, Alexa McMullen of Greenville, NC; brother, James McLamb, Jr and sister-in-law, Sherri McLamb of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Lisa Stewart and brother-in-law, Bobby Stewart of Linden, NC; nephew, Chad McLamb and family of Clayton, NC; niece, Jamie McLamb of Fayetteville, NC; nephew, Bobby James Stewart and family of Linden, NC;  niece, Laura Cribb and family of Linden, NC; and niece, Morgan Price and family of Linden, NC.

Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 3675 Rosehill Rd Fayetteville, NC 28311, on June 8, 2024.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 with a celebration of life to follow at 1:00 pm.
