Robert Preciado Obituary

Robert Preciado, age 89, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Born in Mexico, Robert moved to the United States as a young child, where he made his lifelong home. He proudly served his country in the military and went on to enjoy a long and successful career in manufacturing sales.

Robert had a deep love for God and found joy in golf, good food, and spending time with family and friends. His faith was the foundation of his life, and for many years he was a devoted member of the Village Baptist Church family. Robert faithfully served the church as both a deacon and an usher, touching countless lives through his quiet service and genuine kindness.

Scripture beautifully reflects Robert’s character. Proverbs 18:24 reminds us, “There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother,” and Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” These verses capture Robert’s unwavering devotion to his church family. He was loyal, steadfast, and sacrificial in his friendships and service.

For decades, thousands were welcomed by Robert’s warm smile and gentle spirit as they entered the Village Worship Center. He offered directions, escorted guests to their seats, and handed out programs, always accompanied by a kind word and gracious demeanor. Years ago, recognizing the expense of laundering church linens, Robert quietly arranged for them to be cleaned at a family-owned business as a gift to the church. He was also a devoted member of the Charles White LifeGroup. Not long ago, Robert said, “I love my church. The church is my life.” His words reflected the truth of his life—he was an integral part of the Village Baptist Church family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Efren and Mary Cardenas; his uncle and aunt, Jose and Juanita Preciado, who brought him to the United States; and his dear friend and loving companion, Gloria Jean Gray.

He is survived by his brother, Alfredo Cardenas and wife Helga; niece Deborah Eiser and husband William; nephews Jeffrey Cardenas and Valerie, and Patrick Cardenas and wife Wendy. He is also survived by his extended family, including Lance Gray and wife Beth, as well as the entire Gray and Pierce families.
