Rick Harrison Greenhill, 69, of North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on July 10, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Rick was known for his generous spirit, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Rick is survived by his wife and soulmate, Becky Greenhill, with whom he shared a life full of laughter, love, and deep companionship. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughter, Jessica Yakamna and her husband Newey, and to his son, John Patrick-Harrison Greenhill and his wife Courtney. His three cherished grandchildren-Hannah, Penelope, and Eleanor-were a constant source of joy, pride, and playful energy in his life.
He also leaves behind brothers, Kenneth Greenhill and Billy, and his “brother from another mother,” Tony Tomaselli. Rick was proceeded in death by his father, John Greenhill, and his mother, Shirley Dean.
Rick had a gift for his humor and timing-always ready with a clever pun or perfectly timed joke that could lift a room. His love for his family extended to the many animals that passed through what could only be described as a backyard petting zoo over the years. He grilled the best steaks around-always perfectly done-and loved a good ride down a winding country road, especially if it ended with a stop for ice cream. “Go Heels”
Those who knew him best always smile at the memories of him tending his garden tomatoes, building a mid-day campfire, his love for a scenic detour, and the fact that in Rick’s world, it was always taco Tuesday-whoop whoop. Not to mention whenever Becky was out of town, you could be sure that Trixie and Roxanne were just a call away-though they never stayed long and always left before she got home.
Rick’s presence was one of quiet strength, deep compassion, and joyful mischief. Whether offering a helping hand, cracking a joke, or sitting with someone in need, he made the world warmer and kinder just by being in it.
A private family gathering will be held in Rick’s memory. In lieu of flowers the family encourages acts of kindness in Rick’s name-just as he lived his life.
