Richard Emmett Taylor Jr. returned home to his Lord and Savior, who greeted him with open arms, on July 27, 2021.
Richard was born June 8, 1935, to Richard E. Taylor Sr. and Linda Hassell who preceded him in death, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He is also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Farrell Holmes; And son, Richard Emmett Taylor III.
Richard’s memory lives on through the family he will rejoin around the throne someday. Survivors include his beautiful wife of 54 years, Carolyn G. Taylor; Two daughters, Debra G. Barefoot (William), Gelynda T. Underwood (Fess); Daughter-in-law; Renee Taylor; 7 Grandchildren, Kristie Godwin (Robert), Natasha Drews, Lucas Barefoot (Shannon), Shane Underwood, Jake Underwood, Dillon Underwood, and Casey Taylor; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a beloved cat, Toby.
Richard served four years in the United-States Air Force in his youth after attending Oakridge Military Institute. He later went on to become the owner of Domestic Oil Co. for many years, before finally moving on to work for thirty-five years at Cumberland County ABC.
Richard was a proud member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge as well as a member of Shriners.
Richard Emmett Taylor Jr. will be missed by all the family, friends, and loved ones he has left behind- but what a legacy he has left.
A visitation for Mr. Taylor will be held from 10:45-11:45 AM at Arran Lakes Baptist Church, with the Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 PM.
