Retired SSG James B. Head passed away at home on August 30, 2023. He was born December 30, 1931, in Gallatin, Tennessee.
James was proceeded in death by his parents, Jim (James) and Mahalia Harper Head; sisters, Lillian Woods, Effie Odom, Mary Louis Cary, Lucy Huddleston; brothers, Virgil and George William Head; twins, Leonard and Lola Head, and great granddaughter, Rain Suarez.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothee H.M. Head; daughter, Beatrice Head Robinson and spouse, Shane Robinson; son, Jimmy L. Head and spouse, Chastity; grandchildren; RN Tabitha Fink and spouse, Captain Matthew (Fort Liberty Emergency Services), E5, HM2 FMF Sean Head (Navy) and spouse, Ashlei, SSG Joshua Head and spouse, SSG Raquel (Army), Trinity Head Suarez and spouse, Andrew, Cindy Head Santos, and spouse, Arrow.
James and Dorothee are blessed with 8 great grandchildren: Peyton Pope, River Head, Landon Fink, James and Wyatt Head, Andrew and Mary Jane Suarez, and Tomiko Head.
James joined the Air Force in 1951 and was extremely proud to serve his country! He traveled the world and served two-tours in Korea and one in Vietnam. SSG Head retired in 1971. James and Dorothee retired in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where James managed the NCO Club restaurant at Frances E. Warren, Air Force Base for 20 years as a civil servant. They made Fayetteville their home 8 years ago.
SSG James Head was well-respected by all who knew him. His work ethic was impeccable as he always gave his all to the military and the NCO Club.
James was a quiet man full of kindness, warmth, and a great sense of humor. His trademark was his beautiful smile!
James loved and treasured his family above all else, just as his family loves and treasures him!

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3100 Fernfield Rd Fayetteville, NC 28304 from 1 to 3PM.
