Ret. Sgt. Troy Jesse Smith

Troy Jesse Smith, 51, passed away on January 16, 2020. He was born in Highland Park, MI to Dennis Smith and Mona Jeanne (Pedrick) Smith.

Sgt. Troy Smith retired from the 122 Combat Support Aviation Support Battalion after 20 years of service.  He then worked for the Department of Defense as a Lead Security Guard, where he retired in October 2019

In 2008 Troy married his wife, Carol. He had many interests including, music, Elvis, mustangs, taekwondo and vacationing in Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Mona Smith and his sister, Lenoir Smith. Troy is survived by his devoted wife, Carol; his brother, Clayton and wife, Martha of St Charles, IL; his loving dogs, Luke and Bailey and his brothers in arms, Rob Holdway and wife, Kim of TN and Scot Kernen and wife, Tammi of AL.

A visitation will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Rogers and Breece Chapel with Pastor Tony McVickers officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the burial on Wednesday afternoon at 302 Peaceford Ave., Raeford, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
