Retired Master Sgt. Robert William Glemaker, 83, of Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the VA Medical Center.
He was born in Hammond, Indiana on July 28, 1934, Robert graduated from Richmond Union High School in Richmond, Cali.
Robert was a professional soldier, a Vietnam Veteran and spent 35 years in the US Army, 30 of those years as a "Green Beret". In his years of dedicated service to our country, he achieved many awards and medals to include; the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), NCO Academy Medal, Reserve Officer Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Ranger Tab, Airborne Wings and Green Beret (suf. 3).
Left to cherish his memory is his three sons, Rodney Glemaker, Daniel Glemaker and David Glemaker; two daughters, Deborah G. Anders and Susan G. Munday; one sister, Sharon Hermann; 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the SFA and Green Beret Facility 4990 Doc Bennett Rd, Fayetteville. A headstone will be placed at the US Army Special Forces "Green Beret" Team House Cemetery at a later date.
