Randy Paul Lee

Retired NC State Trooper Randy Paul Lee, 58, of Eastover passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 with his family surrounding him.

He was born in Lumberton, NC on April 28th, 1960. In 2003, Randy married the love of his life, Kathy Langston, in a beautiful ceremony at the Fayetteville Botanical Gardens. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Brandon and Miranda.

Throughout his childhood, Randy was driven by a strong sense of social justice. Before transitioning to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Randy served North Carolina as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Chadbourn Police Department, a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Columbus County Sheriff’s Department, a Carrier with the US Postal Service in Jacksonville, FL, a Correctional Transportation Officer for the NC Dept of Corrections, and as a NC DMV Enforcement Officer. Randy enjoyed a fulfilling career with NC State Highway Patrol with the last nine years serving as a Collision Reconstruction Trooper. Randy retired from the Highway Patrol in May of 2015.

Randy attended Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, NC and in 1997 graduated with honors, earning an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Technology. In 2005, Randy graduated with honors from Mount Olive College with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice Administration.

Since 2013, Randy has served the citizens of Eastover as a Town Councilman. He was an active member of the Eastover Civic Club and Haymount United Methodist Church. He served on the State Employee Credit Union Advisory Board and was a member of the North Carolina Troopers Association as well as the Stedman Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Lee of the home; a daughter, Miranda Lee of the home; a son, Brandon Lee of Fayetteville; a daughter-in-law, Caitlin Lee of Fayetteville; and a grandson, Hunter Lee of Fayetteville.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Haymount United Methodist Church with Rev. Francis Daniel and Rev. Dennis Goodwin officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:45 am to 1:45 pm prior to the service in the New Life Center at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jason Kendall Ray Foundation, a transplant fund for the UNC Dept of Surgery.
