Phyllis Jean Pate, 84, passed away February 9, 2021 at home surrounded by her family and is now in the arms of Jesus, her beloved Savior and Lord. Phyllis was born March 22, 1936 in Crossnore, NC to the late Jesse and Eula Hudson.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who never met a stranger and could carry on meaningful conversations with anyone, anywhere. Even in her last days she ministered to the hospice workers and visitors and thanked them for taking time to help her and talk with her.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Pate and her brother, Tommy Hudson.
Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Jack Pate; daughter, Debbie Thomas and husband, Phillip of Fayetteville, NC; grandson, Ryan Thomas of Raleigh, NC, and granddaughter, Caroline Thomas of Wake Forest, NC.
The family would like to thank the staff of CFV Health Pavilion North Cancer Center and Medi Home Hospice for their loving and gentle care during the last months of her life.
A funeral service will be held at Mount Gilead Baptist Church on Feb. 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Sam Rando officiating, followed by a graveside service at LaFayette Memorial Park. Because of COVID restrictions, the family asks that masks be worn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Phyllis’ memory to Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 6248 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
