Peggy was born on March 11, 1943 to the late Harvey McMillan and Gertrude Monroe of Pearces Mill, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Anthony “Tony” Wydra.
She is survived by a devoted husband of 51 years, Jerry Wydra; three sons, Robert “Jack” Eugene Jackson Jr., Steven “Steve” Michael Jackson and Terry Wayne Wydra; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Joseph Cheney, Jessica “Jessie” Marie Jackson, Jeremiah “Jeremy” Seth Jackson, Joshua “Josh” Todd Wydra, Kayla Brooke (Wydra) Liscar, Elijah “Eli” Todd Jackson, Katie Belle Jackson, Elora Grace Jackson, Addison Michaela Jackson, Abigail Lee Jackson, and Annabelle McKinnley Jackson; 10 great-grandchildren, Avery Cheney, Gavin Chase Beverly, Natalee Faith Jackson, Dawtry Benaiah Jackson, Ansley Marie Cheney, Reid Alexander Jackson, Ezekiel David Jackson, Yori Eugene Jackson, Vaila June Jackson, and John Steve Liscar III; as well as so many other friends and loved ones.
Peggy grew up in Massey Hill and attended Massey Hill High School. Being in a military family, Peggy moved several times, including overseas to Korea. Throughout the years, she dedicated her life to caring for Jerry and the boys. She was strong-minded, liked talking on the phone, watching game shows on TV, telling stories about her sons when they were younger, playing word games on her cell phone, and Peggy took pride in her appearance. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done and shopping for anything, whether it be from QVC or the local mall, which she frequented with her life-long friends. She was also a caretaker to others, including her mother before she passed, as well as the several dogs she had in her lifetime.
Peggy was a one-of-a-kind lady, who will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home for visitation at 12:00 PM with the chapel service following at 1:00 PM on November 1, 2023. The funeral service will be conducted afterwards at Cumberland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
