Peggy Norton Obituary

Peggy Joyce Coleman was born on March 6, 1933, in Harnett County to William (Will) Lawrence Coleman and Blanche Reeves Bolton Coleman.  She was the next to youngest with 3 older brothers-W. Carl Coleman, CW Coleman, and Kelly Coleman, (all deceased) and one older sister, Doris C. Langdon of Lillington and one younger sister Margaret C. Coats (deceased). She grew up in Bunnlevel and married Coll Sexton in 1950 lived in Lillington and had one treasured daughter, Debra Sexton Peach in 1954.  She and Coll later divorced, and she moved to Wilmington, NC and then to Fayetteville where she met and married Robert (Bob) D. Norton in 1970.  They have lived happily married together for 50 years calling each other Baby Doll most affectionately. Peggy dedicated her life to God, her husband Bob and to her daughter Debra, son-in-law Mike of Raleigh and their three sons, Brandon (wife Angela) of Holly Springs, NC, Jonathan (wife Malina) of Willow Spring and Kevin (wife Emily) of Raleigh. Peggy has been blessed with 7 great grandchildren, one great grandson, Brycen and six great granddaughters, Amber, Haylee, Juliana, Josalyn, Aubree, and Kensley.

Peggy was active in her young adult life in the Pleasant Union Christian Church Community and was a career woman even when it was not common for women to do so.  She dedicated her life to her daughter Debra and her grandchildren and to her Baby Doll Bob who loved and looked after her his precious Baby Doll.  They were joined at the hip and dedicated to one another throughout their 50 years together.  After moving to Fayetteville, Peggy opened, owned, and operated Peggy’s Insurance Service in Fayetteville and Spring Lake for over 20 years.  She was a woman who was admired for her physical beauty and style but equally for her inner beauty and her love of everyone.  When she walked into a room it lit up with her presence.  She shined and brought joy with her everywhere.  Peggy enjoyed the beach and being married to Coach Norton and of course she learned to love sports.  She was a big NC State and Duke fan, and he was a big UNC fan, so games always were exciting around the Norton house.  Peggy and Bob enjoyed so many activities together in addition to sports like camping in the motor home, going out to eat at their favorite 316 Oyster Bar, getting together with friends and most of all being with their precious and beloved family.  Peggy was an amazing and beautiful woman who left a strong impression on so many people and made the world a much better place with her presence and warm embrace.  She loved people, cooking, shopping, decorating, fashion, and jewelry, playing cards, trips to Vegas or Biloxi, entertaining and talking with her friends, and most of all her family and Jesus!  She will be sorely missed but what a legacy she leaves behind in the lives of everyone she touched.  She leaves this world a prettier and better place because she was in it.
