Peggy Fortner Obituary

Peggy Sue Fortner, 80, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at First Health Hospice in Pinehurst, NC surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born June 25, 1942, to the late Louis and Julie Brown in Holly Springs, MS.

Peggy is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Rev. Dr. Thomas James Fortner, Sr.; her children, Thomas James Fortner, Jr. (Crystal) of Fayetteville, NC, Wesley Philip Fortner (Buffy) of North Charleston, SC, and Jonathan Louis Fortner of California, MO; sister, Arlene Covington (Bill) of Armorel, AR; 11 grandchildren and their significate others; 12 great grandchildren and 1 on the way, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Perine and brothers, Wesley, Ford, and Donnie.

Peggy was a pastor’s wife for 60 years and a homemaker. She loved her family and touched the hearts of many people. She will be dearly missed.

A visitation service will be held at 9:45 to 10:45 Am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Lake Lynn Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM following the visitation. Burial to take place on Wednesday, November 23 at 2 PM at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Lake Lynn Baptist Church in Peggy’s name.
