Paul K. Meyers, CSM, Retired, USA

Retired CSM Paul K. Meyers went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on March 10, 1941, in the small community of Ponca, Nebraska. He was one of 9 children born to Milton Albert and Alberta Enders Meyers. Paul spent his younger years in Ponca, joining the US Army in April 1958. He spent over 30 years in Airborne Infantry units, both in the US as well as overseas. Paul spent two combat tours in the Republic of Vietnam - one with the 101st Airborne Division and one with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Paul held leadership positions in the infantry, from fireteam leader to division CSM. He culminated his career as CSM, US Central Command. Paul has numerous awards and declarations, including Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star (with V device 3rd oak leaf cluster), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd oak leaf cluster), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (10 awards), and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (with device 60). Paul also has the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Master Parachute Badge, Egyptian Parachute Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4), Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (2).

Paul was proceeded in death by his wife Karen of 49 years in 2010. Paul was also proceeded in death by his son CSM Brian K. Meyers and a daughter in law Lisa C. Meyers. Paul is survived by children Laura Sanders (Raymond), CSM Bradley Meyers, CSM Bruce Meyers (Sonja), and Major Bryce Meyers (Donna). Brad, Brian, and Bruce are retired CSMs like their dad. Laura is a retired dental hygienist, and Bryce is a retired Major from the Durham County Sheriffs Office. Paul was very proud of all his children's accomplishments. Paul is also survived by his God daughter Nancy Dawsey (Greg), 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. A very special person in Paul's life since his wife's death has been Katherine Harris. Paul is also proceeded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Paul is survived by two sisters, Jenny Conrad of Ponca, Nebraska, and Joy Russell of Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Counts officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Paul will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on a later date at Sandhills Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Paul K.
