Nila Whetsell Obituary

Nila Howell Whetsell, 76, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021.

Nila was born August 3, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama to Joseph E. Howell and Vaudine Copeland. Her special love was her dog, Maggie, who slept at the foot of her bed every night.

Nila is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. Howell and Vaudine Copeland of Birmingham. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr Wayne Whetsell of the home; daughter, Elizabeth Whetsell (companion Andrew) of Hillsboro, NC; son, Stuart Whetsell (wife Meredith) of Lynchburg, VA; grandchildren, Eli Whetsell and Viola Gibson; goddaughter, Katie Brooks; and special friend, Angela Durden of St. Pauls.

A visitation service will be held at 1pm on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 2:30pm with Reverend Dr David Hodge officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Calvary Cornerstone Holiness in St. Pauls, NC; American Lung Association, or Fayetteville Animal Protection Society.
