Nancy Matthews McDowell, 91, of Fayetteville passed away on Saturday July 19, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Daisy Matthews. Nancy leaves cherished memories to her daughter, Jennelle King (Bobby); her grandchildren Billy Denton (Kristy), Jeff Barfield (Rebecca), Tina Johnson, Shannon King, Brittany King (Brandi Haithcock); her great grandchildren, Jacob, Jayce, Michael, Aubrey, Matthew, Brittany, Haley, Cameron, Elijah and Harper; her sister Carolyn “Doll” Matthews; nieces and nephew, Vicky Myrick, Sherry Burnette, Debra Robinson, and Jackie Matthews; great-nieces and nephews, Brook and Courtney Myrick, Casey and Chase Robinson, and Allen Burnette; special friend Latasha Blake.
Nancy preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Paul McDowell, her brothers, Curney, Jerry, and Gilbert Matthews.
After retirement from Fasco, Nancy had a deep love for boats, fishing, and spending many joyful days on the water. As a proud American, she especially cherished the Fourth of July, never missing the chance to join in the annual parade and celebrate her country with pride. She loved the cootie bugs and traveling with the road runners.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, 11:00 at New Testament Church of God, 2206 Progress St, Fayetteville, NC, with burial to follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.
