Mary Lee Tart Obituary

Mary Lee Breece Tart died peacefully at home on July 29, 2024, at the age of 88.

Mary Lee was born September 27, 1935, in Cumberland County, NC. She was the wife of C.L. “Bozie” Tart of 67 years.

She is survived by her two children, Clarence "Lee" Tart, III. and Mary Margaret Tart Simpson; as well as her niece, Sharman Breece Craven and four nephews, Corey Robinson Breece, Sr., Robert Wilson Breece, Jr., Lin Breece, and Oscar Pittman Breece, III. Mary Lee was predeceased by her parents, Oscar P. Breece, Sr. and Mary Jessup Breece; two brothers, Oscar Breece, Jr.  and Bobby Breece and nephew, Edward Vance Breece.

Mary Lee graduated from St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC and The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where she was a cheerleader. She participated in many civic organizations and was a member of Hood Memorial Christian Church of Dunn where she served as a deaconess and taught adult Sunday School for twenty-five years.

Mary Lee was loved by everyone who knew her and was well known in many circles as a ray of bright sunshine, as she brought joy to so many.

The Family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Hood Memorial Christian Church from 12 to 1:45pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm with Reverend Jason Williams officiating. Burial to follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn, NC.
