Mary Faith (Moon) Swick was born on January 28, 1938, in High Point, North Carolina, to Samuel Lafayette Moon and Thelma Hazzard Moon. She married Conrad Darrell Swick on December 21, 1955, and became an Army wife. She graduated from High Point Central High School in January 1956.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Lafayette Moon; mother, Thelma Hazzard Moon; and brother, Samuel Leslie Moon.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Conrad Darrell Swick; daughter, Constance Hope Fortenberry, and her husband, Wayne Fortenberry; son, Jeffrey Lynn Swick, and his wife, Lori Swick; daughter, Charity Ann Swick, and her partner, Susan Swick; grandson, Samuel Franklin Swick; grandson, Derrick Swick; granddaughter, Faith Swick; sister-in-law, Miriam Moon; nephew, David Moon; niece, Debbie Moon; and great-nephew, Daniel Smith, and his wife, Amanda Smith.
She graduated in 1969 from Fayetteville Technical Community College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and spent her career in the engineering field of drafting. She worked at Rohm and Haas, Monsanto, Fasco, McCune Technology, and Purolator, retiring in May 2000.
As a child, Mary was carefree and musically inclined. Inspired by her blind father, she played the violin and piano throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and instilled strong family values in everyone she loved. She even raised her grandson from the age of three as her own. In her personal life, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 227, in Hope Mills, NC, and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She and her husband traveled the world, visiting Italy, Hawaii, Greece, Germany, the Mediterranean, the Panama Canal, and other countries.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Following the service, the burial will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park, located at 2301 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301, at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity in her name.
