Mary Lora Godwin, 86, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Godwin; sons, Joseph “Andy” Meaut and Kenny Maynor; her mother, Mary Magdalene Maynor; father, Herman Maynor; two brothers; and five sisters.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Michael Meaut and wife Karen Meaut of Fayetteville, NC, and Amy Olivia Hamlin of Woodbridge, VA; her brother, Frankie Maynor of Lumberton, NC; sister, Linnie Seymore of Courtland, VA; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was a devoted homemaker, a dedicated Sunday School teacher, and a key part of the family business for many years. She was especially known for her baking—her chocolate cakes were a family favorite. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and faith left a lasting legacy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Hope Mills Church of God, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.
