Martin Jay Kosman, 85, passed away on May 18, 2025. Born in New York City on January 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Irving and Frieda Kosman.
Martin earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Queens College, where he was a proud member of Phi Alpha Beta and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. He went on to receive his Master’s Degree in History from the University of Illinois in 1962.
In 1963, Martin married the love of his life, Peggy Faircloth, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years until her passing in 2009. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, achieving the rank of Sergeant (E-5).
Martin enjoyed a successful 30-year career with Dow Chemical Company, retiring in 1993. He later worked with Leith of Fayetteville from 1994 to 2008, where he formed lasting friendships.
He is lovingly remembered by his cousin, Cindy Gilliam White (Terry). Martin was grateful for the care and friendship shown to him by James Royal, Karissa and Brian Montgomery, Glenn Yearby, and Lynne Autry Steenstra.
Martin will be remembered for his intellect, quiet strength, and the kindness he shared with those around him.
