Marilyn Jane Johnson, 81, of Eastover passed away Monday, February 22nd, from complications due to COVID-19. Mrs. Johnson was a resident of Bethesda Nursing Home in Eastover where she was receiving care for Alzheimer’s.
Marilyn was born January 18th, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Haney. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth in 1958 and married her husband of 62 years, Morgan L. Johnson, in September of 1958. Marilyn was a devoted wife and loving mother to their two sons. She kept the family together during her husband’s long military career which included two years overseas in Vietnam.
Marilyn entered the field of real estate in the 1980’s and became a successful realtor and broker in the Fayetteville area. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Eastover and well-loved in the community. She was an avid dog lover who raised and showed German Shepherds for many years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson Bryan Haney and Mary Ruth Haney, her sister, Susan Haney DaPrile, and just last December her beloved husband, Morgan Leon Johnson. She is survived by her sons Erik Morgan Johnson and Kyle Matthew Johnson of Wade, granddaughter Rebecca Ruth Johnson of Clayton, and three grandsons, Kyle Matthew Johnson II of Godwin, Morgan Michael Johnson of Boston, Massachusetts, and Nathaniel Elijah Johnson of Wade. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to the memorial service being held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 2nd, at Roger’s & Breece Funeral Home located at 500 Ramsey St. in Fayetteville. Flowers may be sent to this location. Please wear a mask and social distance.
