Margaret JoAnn (Burke) Cartee

Margaret JoAnn Burke Cartee, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. JoAnn was born in Fayetteville, NC on October 21, 1938, to the late Joseph and Alice Burke.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Burke; mother, Alice Anna Adcox Burke; and her brother, David Burke.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Miriam Eatmon and husband, Greg, Alison Cartee, and Elizabeth Faircloth and husband, Marshall; brothers, Lawrence Burke and wife, Betty, and Charles Burke; sister, Kathy Burke; her eight grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, Christina, Nicole, Gabrielle, Faith, Erin, and Michael; six great grandchildren, Dixie, Charity, Leland, Jayce, Daniel, and Sophia and many other family and friends.

Prior to retirement, JoAnn worked in retail at Roses and Kress’ Drug Store.

JoAnn spent the rest of her adult life living in Grays Creek serving the Lord and caring for her family. She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Mt Pisgah Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM with Reverend Todd Padgett officiating. Burial to follow the service at Cross Creek Cemetery.
