Mamie Dees Obituary

Mamie Wiggins Dees was called home by her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2021, at the age of 81.

Mamie was born April 23, 1940, in Robeson County, North Carolina to Vernie Wiggins and Bessie Hyatt, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dees, Sr. and her brothers, R.C. Wiggins, Houston Wiggins, JT Wiggins, HL Wiggins, Wilton Wiggins and Bradford Wiggins.

In her youth, she attended Massey Hill High School, where she was a cheerleader for her beloved Pirates. Mamie worked for Cumberland Anesthesia for thirty-seven years as an office manager. She was a charter member of the American Medical Assistants and a founding member of the Board at The Crown Coliseum.  Later on in life she was chosen to become a member of the Massey Hill Historical Society.

Mamie is survived by her children; Dee Everitte, John Dees Jr. and wife Sherry, Marci Dees, Julie Dees and Terry Dees, of Fayetteville, NC. She is also survived by one sister, Myrtle Holder of St Pauls, NC; four grandchildren, Trey Dees (Sarah), Tyler Dees of Fayetteville, NC, Frankie Everitte Jr. of Conway, SC, and Amanda Dees Martin (Tanner) of Fort Jackson, SC; seven great-grandchildren, Kennedy Dees of Hope Mills, NC, Larry Dees and Harmony Dees of Fayetteville, NC, Jayden Martin, Kinlee Martin, Brooks Martin, and Marleigh Martin of Fort Jackson, SC.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, at Fayetteville Community Church prior to the service from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM. The funeral service will be begin at 2 PM and burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC (across from the VA).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Fayetteville Community Church Building Fund in honor of Mamie.
