Louis “Lou” Robert Martinez passed away August 16th, 2023, he was 76 years old.
Lou was born in Pueblo, Colorado to the late Daniel and Margie Martinez on February 8th, 1947.
He graduated from Centennial High School, then joined the military shortly after graduation.
Lou was an Air Force and Army Veteran serving 18 months of his military time in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
After serving in the military Lou began a 37-year long career with the United States Postal Service. He was a dedicated, and hardworking employee that held several positions in his career before he retired.
Lou moved to Fayetteville North Carolina where in August of 1990, he married the love of his life Lola McCormick. They had a loving marriage for 31 years until her passing and he still loved her until his passing.
Lou was also a proud member of the Fayetteville Elks Lodge 1081 for over 35 years. Through the Elks Lodge he met several great friends, helped his community and held several different positions within the lodge to include Exhalted Ruler.
He is survived by his Son, Barrett Galloway; Daughter, Luanne Maez, Son in Law Leon Maez, and Daughter in Law, Grace Galloway. Grandchildren, Jaden Coleman, Kailan Coleman, Dylan Galloway, Zeanna Maez Einsphar and Isaiah Maez. Lou is also survived by his dear friend and Sister-in-Law, Kaye McCormick Smith, Brother in Law Jimmy Smith, Brother in Laws Fred Rodriguez, Phil Martinez, Miguel Rendon and Sister in Law Veronica Martinez, Special Cousin Henry Lopez. As well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lou was proceed in death by his loving Wife Lola Martinez, Son Barkley Galloway, Sisters Alice Rodriguez, Lucille and Brother in Law Tom Arguello, Debbie and Brother in Law Fred Pacheco, Cathy Martinez, Gina Rendon, and Brother Bill Martinez.
Lou lived a good life and died a good man. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to local humane societies.
