Leda Pearl Byrd, age 80, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2024, at the Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab Center's "Memory Care Unit". She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph, and Frieda Byrd; her brother, James P. Byrd; her son, Charles Lynn Barnett; and her grandson, Richard Barnett. Leda is survived by her loving children, Sophia Archuleta and her husband, Tony; Joseph Barnett and his wife, Audra; and Susan Cox and her husband, Jim. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Barnett, Grace Ramirez, Alex Barnett, Angela Rodriguez, and Miriam Myers, as well as six great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings, William Byrd, Ralph Byrd, Penny McCormick, Connie Cook, and Gayle Parker, and a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends she made throughout her life.
Leda found joy in tending to her yard, particularly gardening, and maintained an active lifestyle, even running marathons in her younger years. She had a passion for reading, with her Bible holding a special place in her heart, and she was known for her strong work ethic, dedicating 22 years to Fasco Industries in the advertising department, where she cultivated many lasting friendships. In her leisure time, she enjoyed solving sudoku puzzles and would proudly boast to her daughter, Susan, upon completing the expert-level ones. Leda's faith in the Lord, Jesus, was profound, and she eagerly shared her beliefs with anyone who would listen.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Rogers and Breece Funeral home from 11 to 11:45 am. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm in the chapel with Pastor Casey Strickland officiating. Burial to follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park.
