Konstantinos Serafim Kalyvas, age 78, of Fayetteville, NC passed away peacefully at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on July 16, 2024.
He was born on March 31, 1946, in Stenoma Karpenisi Evrytania Greece, to the late Serafim Kalyvas and Athanasia Korokidas Kalyvas. He met his loving wife, and they married September 20, 1969. They enjoyed their 54 years together and their two beautiful daughters together.
He immigrated to America in 1970 and lived in Astoria, NY and worked in restaurants and enjoyed cooking and socializing with many people. He and Evanthia moved from Astoria, NY to Fayetteville, NC in 1995 and he retired. He enjoyed listening to his favorite Greek music and he loved planting and gardening. He was a great cook. He enjoyed socializing on Facebook with many friends and family from Greece. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Yianni Kalyvas and his sister, Georgia Kalyvas. He is survived by his loving wife, Evanthia Kalyvas; his devoted daughters, Athanasia Hrissikos and husband George of Saddle River, NJ, and Stavroula Daskal and husband, Harry of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Theodora Kyriakakis and Nicko, Peter Hrissikos and Nicole, Evanthia Hrissikos, Kosta Hrissikos, Frederika Skenteris, Pete Skenteris and Jenna, and Christos Daskal. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Yianni Kyriakakis, Athanasia Kyriakakis, Angelina Hrissikos and soon his great grandson, George Panagiotis Hrissikos; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will commence at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10 AM. Followed immediately by the funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 614 Oakridge Ave Fayetteville, NC 28305.
