Wayne was a proud native of Autryville in Sampson County, NC and was a 1960 graduate of Roseboro-Salemburg High School. He married his beautiful bride, Betty Smith Faircloth, on August 13, 1981, and embraced her children, DeWayne, Sharon, and MaryAnne as his own.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Iula Horne Faircloth and Brance Faircloth and his brother, A.B. Faircloth, Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Betty; stepchildren, DeWayne Blackwell (DeAnn) of Nashville, TN, Sharon Bennett (Terry) of Hope Mills, NC; Mary Anne Girdwood (Jeff) of Charlotte, NC; siblings, Ottis Ray Faircloth (Linda) of Parkton, NC, Dorothy Mae Baker (Bob) of Fayetteville, NC; his 5 granchilden,6 great grandchildren, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Wayne was devoted to his career at National Linen Service, where he retired as a service manager. He was a very loving man and will be remembered for his Christian faith, his humble nature, and his great perspective of life. He loved the Lord, his family and church families. He was a member of Southview Baptist Church and later, Village Baptist where he served as a deacon, usher, and member of various committees.
He spent his years of retirement tending to his manicured yard with Betty by his side, cheering on and supporting his 5 grandchildren, enjoying the milestone achievements of his 7 great grandchildren, and serving his community.
While Wayne’s physical presence will be deeply missed, his family can rejoice in knowing they will see him again. And as he would always say, “Praise the Lord!” for that assurance.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 10 to 10:45am at Village Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at Village Baptist Church at 11am with Reverend Nick Smith officiating.
