Kathryn "Kate" Leigh (Ballard) Richards

Kathryn Leigh Richards, lovingly known as Kate, passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 45. Born on July 22, 1978, in Jonesboro, Georgia, Kate brought warmth and light to everyone who knew her. She passed away in Linden, North Carolina, surrounded by her beloved family.

Kate is survived by her devoted husband, Norman (Norm) Richards, and their cherished daughters, Addison Grace Richards, and Sophia Ann Richards. She is also survived by her mother, Marilyn Manning Plunkett, her sister and brother-in-law, Allison and Lee Attaway, and their son, Kyle Attaway, her sister, Jessica Plunkett and Landon and her best friend, Shannon Johnson. Kate leaves behind multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom she held dear.

Kate graduated with a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University. She dedicated her career to being a victim advocate, providing support and compassion to those in need.

Kate had a zest for life and enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, playing board games, and taste-testing the culinary creations of her husband, Norm. She adored her husband and daughters more than anything in the world. Known for her thoughtful letters and sage advice, Kate was always there to lend a listening ear. She had a passion for reading and music and could often be found dancing to anything with a beat.

Kate was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, Carl and Bonnie Martz (Memama and Poppop). 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 3 to 3:45 PM. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM in the chapel with Pastor Todd Brady officiating.
