John Richard White

John Richard White, 86 years old, passed away on January 23, 2026. John was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Abbott White. John is survived by his daughter Kimberly White Smith and husband Allen Smith of Fayetteville and their children Matthew and Brianna Smith, Brittany Smith, Corey and Kami Smith, Nellie Grace Smith, Luke and Kenzie Smith, Eli and Ally Smith, David Smith, and Joshua Smith. He is also survived by his son John Richard White, Jr of Greensboro and his children Jack and Lora White, and Alex White. He is also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that were very dear to him.
John was born and raised in Henderson, NC, attended The University of North Carolina where he graduated with a pharmacy degree. He practiced pharmacy in Raleigh until he bought a Pharmacy on Haymount Hill in Fayetteville in 1979. John White Drugs is where he really became part of the Fayetteville community, making many friends. He was an avid UNC basketball fan, he loved exercise and lifting weights, he ran many marathons, and he loved playing tennis with his wife Peggy. After his retirement, he lovingly was a caregiver for his wife until her death in 2023.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on February 15, 2026 at Frontline on Camden Road in Hope Mills where he faithfully attended the last 2 and a half years of his life and truly developed a sweet relationship with Jesus along with many dear friends at Frontline. Pastor John Murphy will officiate the service. The family will greet friends just prior to the service.
