Jenny Setsuko Waszak

Jenny Setsuko Waszak, 88, of Fayetteville, NC passed away at her home on May 18, 2020.

Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Waszak who was a career Army NCO; her youngest son, Lee Waszak of Wendell; and her son-in-law, Aonghus Cheevers of Dublin, Ireland.

Jenny is survived by her son, John Waszak and wife Cecelia of Beaufort; her daughter, Patsy Waszak of Raleigh;  her son, Paul Waszak of Fayetteville; her daughter-in-law, Donna Waszak of Wendell; her granddaughter, Emily Waszak of Dublin, Ireland; her grandson, Max Waszak and wife Deva Kirin of Wilmington; granddaughter, Caitlin Underhill and husband John of Wendell; her grandson, Jonathan Waszak and wife Katie of Rock Hill, SC; her great grandson, Tate William Underhill; and great granddaughter, Daisy Starlight Waszak.

Jenny was a loving wife and mother who raised four children often by herself as her husband was often deployed to war zones and overseas assignments.  Having very little formal education because she needed to work to support her parents, Jenny did everything she could to ensure that her children would receive the educational opportunities that she did not have.  She supported her children through college degrees and encouraged her grandchildren to do the same.  Her gentle, but consistent prodding will be missed.

The family invites those wishing a last visit with Jenny Setsuko to come to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home at 500 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, between 3:00 and 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20.  Social distancing guidelines will be observed.

After cremation, a private burial service will be held at LaFayette Memorial Park at 2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, on Thursday, May 21, 2020.
