In the early morning of May 27th, 2026, Jean Julia (Reimer) Newton of Fayetteville, NC, went into the clouds to be with her beloved husband.
She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on October 5th, 1928, to Julius and Frances (Glasner) Reimer. She graduated in 1946 from Tech High School in St. Cloud. She was a WAC (Woman's Army Corps) from 1950-1952. She met and married her true love during that time. They were married in 1951, and they stayed married for 65 years until 2016 when he went to meet the lord and patienty await his "sweet baby" as he lovingly called her.
She was a wonderful matriarch to her family. To know her was to love her. She loved feeding and watching the birds and squirrels outside of her sliding glass door. She always had a thirst for knowledge. She was always working on a puzzle and was going to do the newspaper crossword everyday while she watched the Price is Right, no matter what. She was an avid reader from mystery to romance.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Van O. Newton; her parents, Julius and Frances (Glasner) Reimer; and siblings, Rose Reimer Grounau, Julius Reimer, Francis Reimer, Thomas Reimer, and Gail Reimer Tenvoorde.
She is survived by her brother, James (Jim) Reimer of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota; daughters, Cheryl Nunn and Gail Wellington (preceded by husband Donald L. Wellington Jr); grandchildren, Sara Williams and husband Jeremy, Elizabeth Freitas and husband Brian, Rachel Oba and husband Keisuke, and Tyler Blomquist; great grandchildren, Kayla Foote and husband James, Calvin Freitas, Dianthe Ocasio and husband Robert, Aislynn Williams, and Jeremy Williams Jr.; and great-great grandchildren, Alexa Foote, Aaron Foote, Luna Ocasio, and Raelyn Freitas.
She will be missed forever and when we think of her we will be reminded of our unwavering love for her! Family and friends alike!
