James H. Lucas, Jr., age 71, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025

James was preceded in death by his sisters, Thedias Mae Richardson, Frances Lucas, Claretha (Molly) Alston, and Rosa (Mook) Lynch

James is survived by his wife, Lei Ann Lucas; his daughters, Teanna Lucas and Maleiya Thomspon; his grandchildren, Landon and Kailese Thompson; his sister, Ora Mae Hart, and his nieces and nephews.

Born in North Carolina, James proudly served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, traveling the world and dedicating much of his life to his country. After retiring from the Air Force, James continued to serve his community, working for 25 years at Wal-Mart before retiring for a second time.

James was known for his strong work ethic, warm heart, and sense of humor. He cherished his family, especially his beloved wife, Lei Ann Lucas, his daughters, Teanna Lucas and Maleiya Thompson, and his grandchildren, Landon and Kailese Thompson. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his family, James leaves behind a multitude of friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his kindness and commitment. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 12 to 12:45 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the chapel with Brother Larry Chason officiating. Burial will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on February 27, 2025.
