Gloria Chason Obituary

Gloria June Padgett Chason, 75, of Lumber Bridge, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. She was born on January 12, 1950, to the late SJ Padgett and Lois Nelson Padgett.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, James Daniel Chason, and her devoted son, James Darren Chason, both of Lumber Bridge, NC. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Padgett Keefer of Pennsylvania and Kathy Padgett Drye of Albemarle, NC.

A woman of unwavering strength and compassion, Gloria dedicated her life to her family. She left school in her later high school years to care for her loved ones, embracing the role of caregiver with grace and determination. Even during her years of illness, she remained the heart of the family — offering wisdom, support, and love with her unique touch and gentle words.

Once her son was older, Gloria returned to school and proudly earned her GED. She continued her education by completing several Dale Carnegie EMP courses, always striving to better herself and set an example for her family. Gloria held positions at Burlington Industries in Raeford and later at Ryder Truck Rental, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic, she was a woman who never stopped striving, always seeking to better herself and inspire those around her.

Gloria was deeply involved in every aspect of her son's life participating in various activities of his. She always made sure breakfast was ready for her son and husband before they started their day. In her later years, Gloria pursued her interest in cosmetology, waking as early as 4 a.m. to balance work, school, and home life. Her dedication, work ethic, and love were unmatched.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by Brother Larry Chason. Interment will follow at the Chason Family Cemetery in Lumber Bridge, NC.

Gloria’s life was a beautiful example of selflessness and devotion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
